Rubicon Water is committed to ensuring the privacy and security of your personal and sensitive information when you apply for an employment or contractor position with us in accordance with the National Privacy Principles under the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1998.

The following explains our approach to the collection and handling of your personal information.

Collection of your personal & sensitive information

In general, the type of information we collect about you is the information included in your application or resume, which may include for example your name, mailing and residential address, telephone number, e-mail address, education and career history, and any other personal information relating to your application for an employment or contractor position.

Where practical we collect your personal information directly from you. We may collect personal information about you when you deal with us by telephone, letter, fax, e-mail, or in person during interviews.

It must be noted that no data transmission over the internet (including e-mail) can be guaranteed to be totally secure, therefore Rubicon Water does not warrant the security of personal information transmitted in this way. We will however make every effort to make it secure on our own systems.

In some circumstances, we may collect personal sensitive information about you, such as information about your membership of a professional body, your health, any criminal record that you may have. There may be occasions when we obtain personal information about you from a third party; for example, from your nominated referees; when receiving the results of a psychological or competency test; or obtaining performance feedback about your work. If we do not have your prior consent, we will take all reasonable efforts to obtain it prior to collecting such information.

If you do not provide us with the information we seek we may not be able to process the application.


How we use and disclose your personal information

We may use and disclose your personal information for the purposes of assessing your application for an employment or contractor position.

We may disclose your personal information to: . Management and employees within Rubicon Water who are involved in managing, validating or administering your application. . Clients who may wish to engage your services as a contractor . Referees . Third party suppliers of employment related services to us, which may include competency or psychometric tests, probity checks, etc. . Depending on the circumstances, to State or Australian Federal Police to conduct police checks . Any person with a lawful entitlement to obtain the information

If we engage third party suppliers to perform services for us, which involves handling personal information about you, we will take reasonable steps to prohibit the supplier from using your personal information except for the purposes for which it was supplied.

Your personal information collected by us will not be sold, rented or licensed to anyone else.

 

Storage of your personal information

Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy and / or electronically and we take all reasonable and appropriate steps to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure in accordance with our security procedures.

We may retain your personal information when you have not been successful for a position you applied for. Likewise, you have the option of having your details deleted from Rubicon Water database it any time by contacting the Rubicon Water Human Resources area.


Gaining access to information we hold about you

You can gain access to personal information we hold about you. This is subject to some exceptions allowed by law. We will give you reasons if we deny access. A written request for access to the personal information we hold about you or in relation to an inquiry about privacy should be sent to:

Keeping your personal information up-to-date

If your personal information changes please contact us and we will endeavor to update and correct the information. We may contact you from time to time to check if the information we hold about you is still correct.
