NVIRP Orders 3,900 Gates
16 June 2009

Rubicon has received an order to supply a further 3,900 gates for the Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project (NVIRP). The project aims to upgrade the ageing irrigation infrastructure across the 68,000kmē Goulburn-Murray Irrigation District in Victoria, Australia.

Rubicon has the production capacity to easily meet the order from its 10,000 square metre production facility in Shepparton, Australia. The latest order with Rubicon will see an additional 1,100 FlumeGates and an additional 2,800 SlipGates® manufactured and delivered for the project in the 2009 calendar year. In 2008, Rubicon delivered 1,530 gates for the NVIRP early works.

With the aid of Rubicon's gate products and its Total Channel Control® automation system, the project will substantially reduce water lost through leakage, seepage and system inefficiencies.

Stage 1 of the NVIRP project aims to save 225 billion litres of water annually and Stage 2 of the project is expected to save an additional 200 billion litres of water annually. The savings will be shared between irrigators, the environment and Melbourne households and businesses.
